In the summer of 2009 Valhalla started out on the browser based game called Evony (W3) as the alliance Thor and was led by Achiever. Before server W3 Achiever played on Evony (S5) as Ironballs in the alliance XCALIBER. There he decided to try running his own alliance on a different server and invited others from S5 to join him. One of those players that joined him was Tamina. She in turn brought her real life partner Raven who also played on S5 with her. Achiever was the leader of Thor for about 2 weeks before he gave up the responsibility of leading to Tamina and left the alliance altogether.
Tamina worked hand in hand with Raven to assist their members in growing and developing into stronger players. They often gave away all their resources to help others achieve and operated under the belief that having a lot of good members working together was far more important and useful than having a few really great members. They gave whatever they could whenever it was needed and encouraged those they helped to do the same by helping another member. A close knit community was formed from this and the essence of Valhalla was born.
Together Tamina and Raven renamed the alliance Valhalla to keep with the Norse roots but to signify the change from being a solo alliance (Thor) to one focused on team support (Valhalla). At this time they also adopted ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL as the alliance motto. Between Tamina and Raven’s hard work and the membership’s great teamwork, Valhalla quickly grew from a small obscure alliance to a top 20 alliance of note.
When Evony merged a number of servers together to form server WN1 Tamina and Raven decided to formally co-lead Valhalla. As co-leaders they eventually created other Valhalla alliances. Those alliances, each with 100 members, acted as extensions of the original Valhalla alliance and not as traditional sister alliances run by different people. Instead Tamina and Raven co-lead all of them as ONE big alliance who received the same communications, orders, and assistance as they saw it as a continuation of the motto ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL. They were AS ONE, something the Valhalla Community continues to incorporate in its operations still. Tamina later stepped down as host due to real life reasons and Raven went on to lead all of the Valhalla alliances with the assistance of a really great group of vice hosts, officers, squad leaders, and members.
The Creation of a Community
In 2010 Valhalla alliance was ranked #5 on Evony (WN1). Valhala2 was ranked #11 and Valhala3 was ranked in the top 25. The majority of Valhalla’s long term members were very dedicated to each other and to the alliance but they were growing tired of the game itself. Knowing that a shift in games was needed but not wanting to lose touch with members Raven realized that the family they had created in the alliances needed to operate independently of any game in order to maintain the essence of what made Valhalla so great.
Valhalla Community was formed in August of 2010 to enable members to remain together regardless of what online games they currently played or even didn’t play.
As a young community Valhalla is still growing and developing but its goals shall always remain focused on the reasons it was originally formed:
To foster, develop, and maintain friendships between members independent of any game
To encourage online gaming growth and exploration among its members
To strengthen and grow the Valhalla membership
Lord of Ultima
The first game that Valhalla branched out to after Evony was Lord of Ultima, anther browser based game with a similar theme. The vast majority of Valhalla members moved from Evony to LoU in 2010 under the name Valhallaguild. Valhalla gained the Lord of Ultima title on January 10, 2012.
Valhalla Community became a multi-gaming community when some member started Valhalla on a new Evony server at the same time as Valhalla played LoU. This new Evony alliance did not last long but a number of long term community members were gained from that server.
